What is a Masjid?

A Masjid, also known as a mosque, is a place of worship for Muslims. It serves as a community center where Muslims gather for daily prayers, especially the five obligatory prayers, as well as for Friday congregational prayers and religious events. In addition to religious functions, many masjids also offer educational programs, social services, and community activities. The word 'masjid' comes from the Arabic root meaning 'place of prostration,' reflecting the importance of prayer in Islam.
