Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Area Supervisor to join our school food service team covering in multiple areas in the state of Florida, to include, the Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach and Orlando locations.
Position Summary:
The Area Supervisor ensures school cafeterias follow proper procedures and regulations related to ordering, receiving, storing, handling, preparation and serving of food. They are directly involved in supervising district nutrition services; overseeing assigned personnel; providing information about the program to others and assisting the cafeteria managers with staff training and supervision and accounting procedures to ensure efficient operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to:
  • Travel regularly to school districts within the assigned region to conduct site visits, provide support, and monitor program implementation.
  • Effectively managing multiple food service operations in varying districts.
  • Coordinating district personnel for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and programs.
  • Conveying information relative to employment such as hours of work, schedules, time off, general work expectations, disciplinary action and ensuring completion of all forms.
  • Evaluating cafeteria programs for adherence and compliance to all standardized procedures and governing regulations.
  • Establishing and maintaining multiple layers of relationships within the school environment i.e. administration, school district personnel, food service staff.
  • Maintaining strong communication with corporate office management.
  • Monitoring financial activity in each account for the purpose of ensuring that related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget guidelines and fiscal practices are followed.
  • Monitoring school cafeterias for overall safety and sanitation for the purpose of ensuring that the school food services programs throughout the district is administered in accordance with state and federal laws, USDA regulations, school district and Maschio's policies.
  • Supervising department functions including hiring/termination recommendations, planning / scheduling / coordinating activities, training, advising, consulting, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that the unit/district functions in a safe and efficient manner according to Maschio's procedures.
  • Participating in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform certain required functions and for training employees.
  • Prepares a variety of records and reports: monthly meal count and sales reports, budget input, letters, procedures, for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Promotes public interest in and understanding of the school food services program for the purpose of improving relations with students, principals, teachers, parents and others on resolving issues and/or concerns.
  • Responds to inquires of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding food service policies and practices.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent rom an accredited institution.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, leadership and technical
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety credential.
  • Criminal History Background Clearance.
  • Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
  • Ability to travel within assigned region.

Preferred:
  • Experience working in a school food service K-12 environment.
  • Three to Five years of education foodservice management experience.
  • USDA Child Nutrition Program experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit or stand in a stationary position.
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 40lbs as needed to move objects.
  • Work is performed in both office and school cafeteria environments.
  • This is a full-time position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday, with hours aligned to school operations. Occasional late nights and weekends may be needed to attend events and meetings.
