The firm serves as national, regional, and trial counsel to Fortune 500 companies with multiple operations located in the most dangerous plaintiff jurisdictions in the country. Maron Marvel's clients come from the energy, construction, manufacturing, technology, transportation, insurance, and liability-related industries. In addition to mass toxic torts, the firm also offers legal services concerning commercial disputes and liability-related defense.

Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for an associate attorney to join its Philadelphia office. We are seeking an experienced civil litigator for our General Liability Practice Group and Toxic Tort Practice Group. Successful candidates will have exceptional research, writing, and litigation skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a high-volume asbestos litigation docket from inception through trial in both state and federal courts.
  • Manage all aspects of fact and expert discovery, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff within the asbestos litigation team.
  • Develop and execute case strategies, including early case assessment, liability analysis, discovery planning, and trial preparation.
  • Develop defense strategies in coordination with national counsel, carriers, and clients across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Draft pleadings, written discovery, motions and other complex legal filings.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with expert witnesses, consultants, and national counsel.
  • Attend and represent clients at court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Maintain proactive and consistent communication with clients, including reporting, litigation updates, and strategic recommendations.
  • Analyze medical, scientific, and occupational exposure records relevant to asbestos and toxic tort claims.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s toxic tort and asbestos practice.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey
  • Minimum of 10 years of litigation experience, with substantial experience handling asbestos and toxic tort matters in both state and federal courts
  • Demonstrated experience leading litigation teams and managing complex, high-exposure cases through all phases of litigation
  • Trial experience and strong deposition practice preferred
  • Familiarity with litigation management platforms, e-discovery systems, and document management software.
  • Strong analytical, legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Proven ability to independently manage a large caseload while effectively supervising others
  • Excellent organizational, case management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, experts, co-counsel, and courts in a professional and strategic manner
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and contributing to client development and retention efforts
