Position: Assistant Coach - Cross Country
Location: Sussex Technical High School
Reports To: Head Coach & Athletic Director
Starting Date: August 2026 - Fall Season
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in the sport including governing rules, strategy, and skills.
  • Possess sound moral character.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the athlete, academics, and overall athletic and school program.
  • Possess CPR certification and concussion protocol training or willingness to become certified.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with varsity head coach to plans and implement organized daily practice plans
  • Suggest adaptations and modifications to coaching techniques, strategies and game plans.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of safety considerations for athletes.
  • Work cooperatively with other coaches, athletic director, trainer, and building administration.
  • Promote and maintain positive public relations with parents and the community.
  • Help provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and player conduct.
  • Comply with all HAC, DIAA, and school district policies.
  • Help maintain inventories of all equipment and uniforms.
  • Assist in recommending purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Support in preparation for each game in strategy and player motivation.
  • Assists in overseeing the safety of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted.
  • Aid in communication of pre, post and in season information to players, parents, and school officials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that relate to this position.

Terms of Employment: 1 Season
Salary Scale: $1,946 - $3,892
