Martech Data Engineer information

How does a Martech Data Engineer typically collaborate with marketing and analytics teams to achieve business goals?

As a Martech Data Engineer, you will regularly partner with marketing and analytics teams to design, build, and maintain data pipelines that support campaign performance tracking and customer segmentation. You’ll work closely with marketers to understand their data needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions, often attending cross-functional meetings to plan new data integrations or troubleshoot issues. Collaboration also involves ensuring data quality, managing ETL processes, and enabling self-serve analytics by making data accessible and reliable for non-technical stakeholders. This close teamwork helps drive data-driven decision-making and ensures marketing strategies are effectively measured and optimized.

What is a Martech Data Engineer?

A Martech Data Engineer is a technology professional who specializes in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports marketing technology (Martech) platforms. They enable the collection, integration, and analysis of marketing data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and accessibility for marketing teams. Their work helps organizations make data-driven marketing decisions, personalize customer experiences, and measure campaign effectiveness. Martech Data Engineers often collaborate with marketers, analysts, and other engineers to implement data pipelines and optimize marketing operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Martech Data Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Martech Data Engineer, you need a solid background in data engineering, SQL, and marketing technology platforms, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with ETL tools, cloud data platforms (such as AWS or GCP), and certifications in marketing automation systems like Salesforce or Adobe Experience Cloud are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help bridge the gap between marketing and technical teams. These skills enable the efficient integration, analysis, and utilization of marketing data, driving better decision-making and campaign performance.

Job description

Director of Engineering, Guest Identity & Personalization
Job Summary:
We are looking for a visionary Director of Engineering to lead our Guest Identity & Personalization capabilities. This role is at the center of everything we do within the Guest Experience Technology team, and is responsible for bridging the gap between complex data architecture and seamless, high-impact guest experiences. You will lead an engineering organization dedicated to building and evolving the inner workings of our marketing engine, ensuring we know exactly who our guests are and how to talk to them across every single touchpoint. In addition to developing and enhancing the tooling, you and team are responsible for ensuring the technology and tooling supports the needs of the business and our key partners in the marketing organization.
Job Responsibilities:
As the leader of this domain, you will oversee the development and ownership of a sophisticated MarTech ecosystem:
  • Identity Resolution & Guest Data: Direct the strategy for unifying disparate guest data points into a single, persistent identity. You'll ensure identity resolution is robust, privacy-compliant, and accessible across all guest-facing channels.
  • MarTech Innovation: Lead the technical roadmap for our Customer Data Platform (CDP), Content Management System (CMS), and Digital Asset Management (DAM). You will ensure these platforms are not just operational, but integrated and cutting-edge.
  • Empowering Marketers: Oversee the creation of internal tools and intuitive interfaces. Your goal is to democratize data, allowing our marketing talent to orchestrate, personalize, and measure campaigns without needing a ticket for every change.
  • Omni-channel Orchestration: Drive the "irrigation" of personalized data. You will build the custom integrations and interfaces required to flow guest insights into any channel (email, web, app, or in-resort) for real-time, relevant messaging.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and scale a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, rapid experimentation, and guest-centric thinking.

What You'll Bring:
  • Engineering Excellence: Proven experience leading large-scale engineering teams, specifically within MarTech, AdTech, or Data Engineering.
  • Architectural Vision: Deep understanding of identity resolution, data integrity & democratization, and a vision for modern SaaS and API-first architectures. You know how to build systems that handle scale while maintaining low latency.
  • Product Mindset: You don't just build features; you build solutions. You understand the "why" behind marketing tactics and can translate them into technical requirements.
  • Collaboration: A track record of working closely with Marketing, Product, and other Engineering leaders to align technical roadmaps with business growth.
  • Strategic Agility: Experience managing build vs. buy decisions and navigating the complex vendor landscape of CDPs and CMSs.

Job Requirements:
  • SaaS Ecosystem Expertise: Extensive experience managing and integrating best-in-class SaaS platforms. Specific experience with Amperity (CDP) and ContentStack (Headless CMS) is highly preferred
  • Modern Data Architecture: Deep proficiency in cloud data warehousing, specifically managing data flows and identity schemas within Snowflake or Databricks. You should understand how to leverage these platforms for real-time guest insights.
  • Data Integration & Orchestration: Proven ability to build complex, automated workflows using SnapLogic (or equivalent iPaaS tools) to connect disparate systems and "irrigate" data across the enterprise.
  • Analytics & Measurement: Familiarity with the Adobe Analytics suite, specifically in how it feeds into identity resolution and helps measure the downstream impact of personalization efforts.
  • SaaS & API-First Mentality: A strong advocate for "Headless" and "Composable" architectures, ensuring that guest data and content are accessible via custom endpoints for any digital channel.
  • Cloud Fluency: Expert-level understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure), specifically regarding data security, privacy compliance (GDPR/CCPA), and low-latency delivery
Job Benefits
  • MORE employee discounts on lodging, food, etc.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Excellent training and professional development
  • Referral Program
Full Time roles are eligible for the above, plus:
  • Health Insurance; Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, and Vision Insurance plans (for eligible seasonal employees after working 500 hours)
  • Critical Illness and Accident plans

Compensation:
  • $200k base + 15% annual bonus + Stock Options (compensation can vary per candidate depending on experience)
