THIS POSTING IS TO FILL THE CURRENT VACANCY AND TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST TO FILL ANY FUTURE VACANCIES THAT MAY OCCUR IN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent and five years' experience in troubleshooting and repairing specialized maintenance-of-way track vehicles and equipment, consisting of complex, diesel-powered, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in welding and fabrication preferred. Must have demonstrated skills and ability with a variety of tools required in maintenance, repair and mechanical unit replacement for track vehicles and equipment. Must have the ability to read and comprehend electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic system schematics.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
SUMMARY: Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance to MARTA's specialized track vehicles and equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces mechanical units or components as required.
1. Troubleshoots and makes repairs to diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
2. Performs preventive maintenance to diesel locomotives, specialized track vehicles and equipment.
3. Recovers downed maintenance vehicles from track in a timely manner in order to avoid disruption of revenue service.
4. Performs welding, fabrication, body repair, unit replacement and overhaul of equipment.
5. Uses a variety of tools, including hand tools, impact wrenches, drills, compressors and/or other tools as assigned.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License and obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess basic tools (standard and metric) to perform preventive maintenance and repairs. MARTA will provide any specialized tools required.
