PlanHub is the leading pre-construction SaaS platform and marketplace helping general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers connect and grow their businesses. Built with tradespeople in mind, PlanHub is designed around the user workflow to help boost productivity, maintain deadlines, increase revenue, and create relationships. Easily post projects or submit bids with anytime-anywhere collaboration for every commercial construction trade.
The Director of Business Operations will own the measurement, analysis, and insight generation used to evaluate the health of a two-sided marketplace. This role is responsible for defining how marketplace performance is measured across geographic markets and segments, identifying where the marketplace is performing well versus underperforming, and translating data into clear insights and strategic recommendations. The role partners closely with Product, Data, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Finance to ensure leadership and operating teams have the analytics needed to make informed decisions about marketplace strategy and investments.
What You'll Do:
  • Define and own the core metrics used to measure marketplace health across supply activity, demand engagement, liquidity, match quality, retention, and monetization.
  • Develop and maintain standardized scorecards and reporting that provide consistent visibility into marketplace performance across markets and segments.
  • Analyze marketplace performance by geography, segment, and cohort to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Diagnose supply and demand imbalances and highlight the underlying drivers affecting marketplace engagement and liquidity.
  • Translate marketplace data into clear insights and strategic recommendations that inform business priorities and investment decisions.
  • Support recurring marketplace performance reviews by providing analysis, insights, and data-driven perspectives.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Data, and Finance to ensure marketplace insights inform cross-functional initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Evaluate the impact of marketplace initiatives and experiments, helping teams understand what is working and where adjustments are needed.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • 8-12+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, analytics, consulting, or a related role in a technology, SaaS, marketplace, or data-driven business.
  • Experience analyzing complex datasets and translating findings into clear insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of marketplace dynamics, including supply and demand balance, liquidity, engagement, and retention metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to build measurement frameworks, dashboards, and performance scorecards that support business decision-making.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, sales, marketing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in tools such as SQL, BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI), or similar analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex analysis to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, analytics, engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in construction technology, commercial construction, or vertical SaaS.
  • Familiarity with General Contractor workflows, preconstruction, bidding, and subcontractor sourcing.
  • Experience analyzing geographically segmented markets (CBSAs, MSAs, territories).
  • Advanced proficiency with BI tools and SQL.

Measures of Success:
  • Leadership has a clear, shared understanding of which CBSAs are healthy, marginal, or at risk-and why.
  • Sales and Sales Operations focus efforts on markets where the GC marketplace is most likely to succeed.
  • Targeted actions improve underperforming CBSAs and increase overall GC engagement and retention.
  • Marketplace insights directly influence product roadmap, go-to-market strategy, and investment decisions.
