Position Summary

Tamarind Institute, adivision of the College of Fine Arts at The University of New Mexico, is anonprofit center for fine art lithography that trains master printers and housesa professional collaborative workshop for guest artists. Since the workshop'sfounding in 1960, Tamarind's printer training and print publishing program hasset the standard in the field of collaborative printmaking around the world. TheTamarind Gallery is a space that features work that has been created during residencesfrom 1960 to the present, with regularly changing exhibitions.
Tamarind Institute isseeking individuals interested in a career in arts marketing and/or artsadministration and promotion. Up to two positions are available, with a focuson graphic design and CAD skills, and with a social media and video and/or reelcreation and editing focus. We hope these roles will be a steppingstone incareer within the graphic design and marketing fields. Our ideal candidateis an excellent communicator and can multitask well. Successful candidatesshould also have in-depth knowledge of current marketing techniques andInstagram. You will have an opportunity to specify whether you are applying forthe graphic design or social media track in your cover letter, as well asproviding examples of your work for consideration.
For the graphic designtrack your tasks may include: creating CAD models of Tamarind's gallery andprint fair exhibition booths to preview show designs using Rhino, Revit, orsimilar; iterating print and digital marketing campaigns including posters,digital and print advertisements, catalogues/booklets, and emails usingInDesign and Illustrator.
For the social mediatrack your tasks may include: preparing Mailchimp newsletters usingpre-established templates; using Photoshop or other editing software to prepareimages for Instagram; creating and editing reels; drafting captions; andevaluating optimal posting habits.
