Job description

Umbra is an American space technology company delivering advanced systems, from sensors to spacecraft, that empower customers worldwide with unmatched access to critical information from space. Our mission is simple and ambitious: redefine space—for people, systems, and missions in every domain. Umbra’s ecosystem operates through three business units: Remote Sensing (the data), Space Systems (the components), and Mission Solutions (the platforms).  Together, our teams develop capabilities that deliver persistent access, resilient performance, and mission-ready solutions, advancing U.S. space leadership while keeping the world safe and informed.

About the Job

Umbra is seeking two Product Marketing Managers to support go-to-market strategy, positioning, and customer-facing messaging across our product portfolio. One role will support our Space Systems business, while the other will focus on our Remote Sensing and Mission Solutions businesses.

In this role, you will partner closely with Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, and Communications to translate complex technical capabilities into clear value propositions, differentiated messaging, and compelling marketing content that drives customer engagement and business growth. Whether supporting spacecraft components and subsystems or advanced remote sensing and mission solutions, you'll help shape how Umbra's technologies are positioned across commercial, defense, and intelligence markets.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, technically fluent marketer with experience in B2B/B2G aerospace, defense, or national security markets and a passion for bringing innovative technologies to market.

These positions are based on-site in our Arlington, VA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop product positioning, value propositions, and messaging for your assigned business area (Space Systems or Remote Sensing & Mission Solutions), ensuring clear differentiation across target customer segments.
  • Own the messaging, positioning, and ongoing evolution of customer-facing product marketing materials – including datasheets, presentations, web content, technical briefs, case studies, infographics, sales enablement tools, and training materials – ensuring content remains accurate, differentiated, and aligned with product updates. Produce and maintain these assets using Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and related design tools.
  • Support go-to-market execution for new product launches, enhancements, and customer announcements in partnership with Communications, Business Development, Product Management, and Engineering.
  • Partner closely with Business Development to support strategic pursuits through account-based marketing (ABM), campaign messaging, sales enablement, and customer-facing content.
  • Manage lead pipeline performance for assigned business units, leveraging CRM and marketing dashboards to track campaign impact, analyze funnel health, and translate performance insights into targeted product marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Conduct market and competitive research to inform product positioning, messaging, and growth opportunities within your assigned market.
  • Serve as the product marketing lead for your assigned business area, coordinating cross-functional marketing initiatives and ensuring consistent messaging across campaigns, events, digital channels, and customer communications.
  • Translate product roadmaps and technical capabilities into compelling narratives that resonate with commercial, defense, and intelligence customers.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and mission priorities to inform marketing strategy and provide feedback into product planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting compelling narratives and content about technical products.
  • Strong graphic design skills, with proficiency in design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or Canva) to create polished marketing materials, sales collateral, and visual content.
  • Experience creating product positioning and messaging frameworks for technical products.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to gather market intelligence and derive insights that drive marketing strategy.
  • Experience using CRM and marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) to support sales enablement and campaign execution.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, or technical marketing in a B2B/B2G environment.
