Job Summary
The Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives is seeking a part-time Marketing & Media Assistant. The assistant will work closely with and report to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication to develop, craft, and publish marketing content across multiple platforms and formats. The assistant will support OAMI programs and initiatives by working with staff and students to promote events and highlight ongoing work within the office.
This is a non-exempt, part-time (20 hours weekly), temporary position. Hybrid role.
Hourly rate $25-30 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities*
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication to plan, coordinate, and execute marketing and communication projects based on input and requirements from office staff.
  • Develop content calendars for social media and website content, brainstorm and pitch event and other newsworthy story ideas.
  • Attend events and activities to capture photo and video content for social and longer-form media.
  • Review performance and engagement metrics and provide reports and recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications*
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in a communications or related field.
  • At least two to three years of professional experience creating and delivering marketing content across different platforms and formats.
  • Experience with Adobe CC, especially Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere.
  • Understanding of email design and marketing using Mailchimp.
  • Familiarity with professional photo and video equipment, such as mirrorless cameras, lighting, and sound recording.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and others. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, including project management and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be flexible and able to work with changing schedules.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience creating content for college-aged audiences and/or organizations with educational or advocacy missions
  • Working knowledge of WordPress website authoring
  • Experience with motion graphics design using After Effects
  • Journalism, fundraising, or public relations experience
