Job description

The University of Virginia Career Center (UCC) seeks a Career Events Associate to support events planning within the UCC Shared Services Team. The mission of the University of Virginia Career Center is to engage and support students in the discovery and pursuit of meaningful lives. Reporting to the Associate Director of Events & Marketing, the Career Events Associate will support career fairs and programs that foster career development .
Working Hours: Primarily between 9 AM - 5 PM with some scheduling flexibility; evening hours required during the week and will be scheduled in advance.
Rate: $23 .00 h our for 30 h ours per week
In the UVA Career Center, the Career Events Assistant will:
  • Events - support all aspects of career events, including: coordinating program dates, securing locations, purchasing , materials prep, facilitating venue/space set-up, catering, parking, on-site registration, signage, A/V needs, security, supplies, promotional items, clean-up, etc.

  • Business processes - identify needs for events, maintain notes, checklists, and post-event debrief data

  • Inner-office communication and coordination - communicate event logistics to full C areer C enter team and works in tandem with Events & Marketing team, C areer C ommunities and E mployer E ngagement in event planning

  • Special projects - facilitate special projects as determined by the Assistant Director of Events & Marketing and the Senior Director for Strategic Planning and Initiatives (examples: assist with internal team retreats, planning meetings/processes, divisional priorities) and collaborates with UCC Shared Services Team members.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Ideal candidate would have these skills : event planning experience, excellent oral and written communication, strong organization and time management skills; administrative, financial purchasing and customer service experience; UVA affiliation or past UVA work experience is a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree or combination of education, experience, and/or certifications in lieu of degree requirement.

Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs. The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
