What is a Marketing Development Program?

A Marketing Development Program (MDP) is a structured training initiative offered by companies to develop early-career professionals into skilled marketing leaders. These programs typically include rotations through various marketing functions, such as digital marketing, product management, and market research, giving participants broad exposure to the field. MDPs often combine on-the-job training, mentorship, and formal coursework to build essential marketing and business skills. Graduates of these programs are well-equipped for advanced marketing roles within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Marketing Development Program, and why are they important?

To excel in a Marketing Development Program, you need a solid understanding of marketing principles, data analysis, and business strategy, typically supported by a relevant degree or internship experience. Familiarity with digital marketing tools, CRM systems, and analytics platforms like Google Analytics or HubSpot is often required. Strong communication, creativity, and adaptability help you collaborate effectively and generate innovative campaigns. These skills are crucial for driving growth, building brand presence, and succeeding in dynamic marketing environments.

What types of projects or rotations can I expect during a Marketing Development Program, and how do they support career growth?

In a Marketing Development Program, participants typically rotate through multiple departments such as brand management, digital marketing, product marketing, and market research. These rotations expose participants to different aspects of marketing, allowing them to develop a broad skill set and discover their strengths. The diverse project work and mentorship opportunities help build a strong foundation for future leadership roles, making it easier to advance within the organization or specialize in a particular area of marketing. Participants often collaborate with cross-functional teams, gaining valuable experience in teamwork and communication.

As a Marketing AI Program Manager - Executive Director on the Performance Marketing, Operations and Transformation team, you will drive end-to-end execution of AI innovation across the Chief Marketing Officer organization and partner with Lines of Business (LOBs), ensuring pilots are coordinated, controlled, and scaled effectively. You will own the coordination and governance of AI proofs of concept (POCs), supporting sponsors through onboarding and approvals, tracking and monitoring all active LOB POCs to prevent duplication, and evaluating fit to ensure efforts align to enterprise priorities and platform strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the coordination of AI Proof of Concepts (POCs) across the Chief Marketing Officer's organization and the Lines of Business (LOBs).

  • Provide oversight and guidance for POCs within Carla's organization, supporting sponsors through onboarding and approval processes.

  • Track and monitor all ongoing (LOB) POCs to prevent duplication, ensuring alignment and efficiency across the firm.

  • Evaluate the appropriateness of LOB POCs, ensuring platform capabilities are developed within the Center when necessary.

  • Lead the oversight and business management of the new Marketing AI Sandbox, coordinating pilot programs, defining graduation criteria, and measuring program success.

  • Serve as the central point of contact for all Sandbox activities, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with business objectives.

  • Scour the marketplace for innovative AI solutions and potential partnerships, working closely with Corporate Development and Technology Strategy to source and evaluate new opportunities.

  • Drive clear, consistent, and timely communication of AI program status across all levels of the organization-up, down, and sideways.

  • Prepare and deliver updates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years' experience in program management at the executive level, within marketing, technology, or AI-driven environments.

  • Exceptional organizational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple high-impact initiatives.

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for translating complex topics into clear, actionable insights.

  • Proven track record partnering with Technology, Data/Analytics, Legal/Compliance, Privacy, Controls, and Risk to deliver controlled innovation.

  • A passion for innovation and a keen eye for emerging trends in AI and marketing technology.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • Experience leading AI or technology-driven innovation projects at scale, preferably in a Financial Services or Marketing context

  • Demonstrated ability to measure and articulate business impact of initiatives

  • Experience in market scouting and solution evaluation; partnership development in collaboration with Corporate Development and/or Technology Strategy.
