This role combines advanced analytics, actuarial expertise, and strategic business leadership to improve profitability, optimize reserves, enhance risk selection, and support long-term portfolio growth. You will partner closely with Product, Claims, Sales, Finance, Actuarial, and IT teams while leveraging automation, AI, and advanced analytics to improve operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and decision-making.

What you'll accomplish with us
As aSenior Risk Analytics & Portfolio Strategist, you'll be at the core of our mission. Your main responsibilities will include:
Risk Analytics & Portfolio Management (60%)

  • Analyze and present portfolio performance across products (VSC, GAP, Tire & Wheel, and ancillary products) to identify trends, loss drivers, profitability opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs related to loss ratios, frequency/severity trends, reserve adequacy, and underwriting performance.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on claims trends, inflation impacts (parts/labor), and emerging risk patterns.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding reserves, underwriting guidelines, pricing strategies, and program structure.
  • Lead quarterly and annual business reviews by synthesizing complex operational, underwriting, actuarial, and financial data into executive-level insights.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on portfolio profitability, reserve adequacy, underwriting strategy, pricing effectiveness, and risk management decisions.
  • Develop long-term portfolio performance forecasts and recommend strategic actions to improve profitability and growth.
  • Evaluate new products, distribution channels, and market opportunities through quantitative risk and financial analysis.
  • Develop and enhance early performance indicator reporting and analytical models to identify emerging trends in profitability, claims performance, reserve development, and risk selection.

Data, Reporting & Business Intelligence (20%)

  • Design and automate reporting solutions to improve visibility into underwriting, claims, and portfolio performance.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical tools using Excel, BI tools, Salesforce, and other data platforms.
  • Standardize reporting frameworks across products to ensure consistency, transparency, and audit readiness.
  • Develop scenario analysis and stress-testing models to evaluate emerging risks and changing market conditions.
  • Partner with IT to enhance data structures, data quality, governance, and system capabilities.
  • Collaborate with actuarial and underwriting teams to develop rate-level reporting and analyses that evaluate the effectiveness of reserve and pricing changes.

AI & Process Automation (20%)

  • Lead opportunities to leverage AI, automation, machine learning, and advanced analytics to improve underwriting, risk management, and reporting workflows.
  • Implement tools and models that streamline decision-making, including exception handling, claims trend detection, and predictive risk monitoring.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to incorporate AI-driven insights into operational and business processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scalability, accuracy, and process optimization.
  • Utilize statistical, predictive, machine learning, and AI methodologies to improve risk selection, forecasting accuracy, and portfolio profitability.

  • Has experience in automotive, insurance, warranty, or F&I products (strongly preferred).
  • Has advanced knowledge of actuarial concepts such as loss development factors, reserving methodologies, and pricing strategies.
  • Has experience leading enterprise-wide analytical initiatives and presenting recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Has experience with BI tools (Qlik, Power BI) and working with large, complex datasets.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Query, PowerPoint, and reporting automation tools.
  • Has an intermediate level of English proficiency, as the role involves regular communication with leadership, product teams, claims, actuarial, finance, and IT.
