Job description

Help Shape Strategic Decisions Through Market Intelligence

Cummins is seeking a Market Intelligence Manager to lead the Market Intelligence Resource Center and deliver actionable market insights that help leaders make informed business decisions. This role combines market research, competitive intelligence, forecasting, stakeholder consulting, and knowledge management.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders across Cummins, translating complex market signals into practical recommendations while ensuring our market intelligence resources are accessible, relevant, and impactful.

In This Role, You Will

Deliver Strategic Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, customer dynamics, and emerging market developments.
  • Conduct market analyses that identify growth opportunities, risks, and strategic implications.
  • Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations that support business and strategic planning decisions.
  • Develop forecasts using historical data, market drivers, and industry trends.
  • Conduct competitive assessments and respond to ad hoc intelligence requests.

Lead the Market Intelligence Resource Center

  • Manage the Market Intelligence portal to ensure intelligence resources, research, tools, and deliverables are current, organized, searchable, and easy to access.
  • Develop effective methods for sharing market intelligence across the organization to maximize visibility, adoption, and impact.
  • Partner with stakeholders to increase awareness and utilization of available market insights resources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how market intelligence is captured, managed, and distributed.

Partner with Business Leaders

  • Build strong relationships with leaders across business units and corporate functions.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner by translating complex market information into meaningful business insights.
  • Tailor intelligence deliverables to stakeholder needs and preferred communication styles.
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives requiring market analysis or external perspectives.

Manage External Intelligence Resources

  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts, trade associations, research providers, and external intelligence networks.
  • Manage market insights vendors, including contracts, scope definition, performance expectations, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Evaluate new intelligence sources and tools to strengthen organizational market awareness.

Lead and Enable Excellence

  • Support and mentor analysts and project teams as needed.
  • Apply effective project management practices to balance competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Champion a culture of insight generation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Strategy, Market Research, or a related field.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in strategy, business analysis, marketing, market research, consulting, or a related field.
  • Experience developing insights and recommendations from multiple information sources.
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to support decision-making.

The Market Insights Manager, DATA CENTERS will become a subject matter expert on global data center markets, delivering actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making. This role primarily supports the Power Generation (PowerGen) business and also collaborates across the Market Insights team to support priority projects in other markets.  

The Manager synthesizes complex data and qualitative information into clear, compelling insights that shape growth strategies, identify market opportunities, and anticipate risks. By closely monitoring industry developments and competitor activity, the role provides forward-looking perspectives on how markets are evolving and where value is shifting. The role is responsible for developing forecasts and analyzing market dynamics, including emerging trends, evolving business models, regulatory shifts, and competitive landscapes.

This position partners closely with business leaders in PSBU, DBU, Tech Strategy and other businesses to translate market intelligence into strategic recommendations, supporting investment decisions, portfolio positioning, and long-term planning. The role requires a strong external orientation, continuously integrating insights from industry reports, customer signals, and ecosystem developments to maintain a comprehensive view of the market.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience in energy and power markets

  • Prior consulting experience

The position can be located in Minnesota or Indiana.
