What we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced Maritime Commercial Manager with extensive knowledge of the shipping and maritime industry to oversee an assigned territory in the United States. You will act as the primary contact for an assigned group of existing accounts and targeted new business leads, working to improve the customer experience, grow loyalty, build lasting relationships, and support the commercial and revenue objectives of our Lloyd's Register Maritime business.

Full-time
The role
  • Develop and maintain detailed territory and account plans that improve margin performance and support growth across Lloyd's Register's products and service solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by holding regular account meetings to identify changing needs, provide tailored solutions and seek cross-selling and upselling opportunities that increase value for both the customer and LR.
  • Organise and facilitate executive-level meetings to build strategic relationships between Lloyd's Register's senior management and client leadership teams.
  • Coordinate bid processes, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities across the opportunity capture team, and manage the development of proposals and quotations to grow revenue, market share and client engagement.
  • Deliver financial and operational results in line with commercial plans and budget targets, tracking and reporting sales performance using pipeline data, market insights and competitor analysis within Salesforce.
  • Stay informed about industry shifts, advances in technology and competitor moves to uncover emerging opportunities and preserve an advantage.
  • Share key account insights with internal stakeholders, promptly address and resolve client issues and ensure lessons learned are disseminated in line with LR's Business Management System (BMS) and service level agreements.
  • Monitor account performance, margins and contract renewals to ensure sustained client satisfaction and business continuity.

What you bring
  • A degree in Business, Engineering or Maritime Studies, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive experience in commercial or account management within the maritime or shipping industry.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex customer relationships and contributing to revenue growth.
  • Deep understanding of the shipping market, marine operations and related regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated commercial insight, with the ability to create strategic action plans and negotiate effectively.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial planning, forecasting and reporting.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to create networks and partner across functions and geographies.
  • An inclusive, team-centred approach, committed to delivering value for customers and reaching important goals.
  • Accountability and ownership for meeting customer and business goals.
  • Experience and confidence in managing multiple priorities.
  • The ability to build lasting partnerships and communicate effectively across all levels.
