Overview

SENIOR MARITIME DATA AND INFRASTRUCTURE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT (DOT):

Bowhead seeks a Senior Maritime Data & Infrastructure SME to join our team in Washington, DC. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and serves as the primary and senior staff lead within the US Committee on Marine Transportation System (CMTS) Executive Secretariat for all maritime transportation data and associated systems analysis. Additionally, as Infrastructure Investment Team Coordinator, you will work with the CMTS Economic Advisor to provide staff support to all interagency maritime investment-related activities. You will also join the Executive Secretariat staff to provide general CMTS activity support, which may include, but not be limited to, quarterly senior leadership meetings, monthly interagency working group meetings, and outreach activities. There is flexibility to expand portfolio based upon experience, interests and needs of the CMTS. 

Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary staff lead for maritime resilience, supply chain, and infrastructure activities
  • Act as senior liaison with CMTS member agency subject matter experts
  • Provide staff support for Maritime Resilience Integrated Action Team
  • Provide staff support for Maritime Supply Chain and Infrastructure Integrated Action Team
  • Conduct stakeholder outreach as directed by Executive Director
  • Represent CMTS at conferences, workshops, and meetings
  • Provide general staff support to CMTS Executive Secretariat
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Public Policy, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred
  • 7-10 years in maritime transportation, supply chain management, infrastructure planning, or related field
  • Experience with federal interagency processes
  • Experience supporting working groups or collaborative teams
  • Stakeholder engagement and coordination experience

Skills:

  • Knowledge of U.S. maritime transportation system
  • Understanding of supply chain and resilience planning
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Organizational and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMTS experience
  • DOT or MARAD background
  • Emergency management experience

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid: DOT HQ and remote work
  • Travel up to 25%
  •  Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

Salary Range: 75,000-95,000

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is required for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
