Job description

Role: Electronics Assembly Technician

Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)

Salary Range: $71,000 - $85,000 / yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits

Role Overview:

Seasats is looking for a skilled, build-savvy Electronics Production Technician to join our team as we accelerate manufacturing of our maritime vehicles. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the build / assembly of the vehicle's cable harness, motor, sensors, batteries, and antennas. As a member of the electronics team, you'll make critical contributions alongside other experienced technicians and engineers.

Role Details:

Your daily responsibilities will depend on your specific skills and our production phase. As examples, though, you might expect some of the following tasks:

  • Measuring, cutting, and terminating wires to build vehicle cable harnesses
  • Conducting quality control checks on your and other people's work
  • Documenting production processes and identifying areas for efficiency improvements
  • Potting waterproof assemblies

It won't always be glamorous work; you may sometimes need to hunker down and spend a week splicing solar panel cables. You will, however, be part of a fun and hardworking team, quickly see your work deployed in the field, and have a hand in developing and improving the production process. Finally, you'll also receive a competitive salary, health insurance, stock options, and other perks that go along with being part of a rapidly growing ocean tech company.

About You:

  • Advanced soldering and cable splicing skills (minimum of 5 years / IPC certification preferred)
  • General electrical assembly experience (stripping cable jackets, tinning wires, crimping Molex connectors, SMD soldering)
  • Keen interest in building an organized, well-documented production process
  • Enough patience, finger dexterity, and attention to detail to correctly terminate 12 or more 20/22 AWG wires into a connector
  • Communication skills, teamwork, and humility
  • Experience with potting, epoxies, and adhesives

Due to export control requirements applicable to this position, we are only able to consider U.S. persons, as defined by U.S. export control laws. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted asylee or refugee status.

About Seasats:

At Seasats, we're passionate about delivering maritime robotics solutions to redefine the maritime industry. Our primary products are unmanned surface vessels (USVs), designed to carry sensors at sea for months at a time. Our USVs provide persistent monitoring and data acquisition to defense, scientific, and commercial customers, and have autonomously crossed both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. After thousands of years in which the only way to gather information from the ocean was to put people on a boat, these uncrewed vessels are transforming how humanity monitors and interacts with the ocean. Here, you'll find the space and opportunity to do your life's best work.

Along with your salary, you'll receive perks including:

  • Stock options
  • Competitive insurance (including a 99% employer-covered Gold HMO plan or other options)
  • 401k matching up to 4% of salary
  • Four free lunches per week
  • An employee activity fund
  • A pet-friendly office
  • Unlimited/Flex PTO

Hiring Notes:

When applying, you'll be asked to provide a resume and answer a few screening questions.

Please note that we are currently unable to sponsor employment visas, so candidates must be independently authorized to work in the United States.

We appreciate diverse perspectives and life experiences, and we're committed to building a team that reflects a wide range of backgrounds.
