Job Description

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Inland Marine Technical Claims Specialist to join our team in one of our Argo offices: Albany, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Omaha, or Richmond (VA). This is a fully in-office role, with employees working on-site five days per week to foster collaboration, strengthen team relationships, and support business performance.

In this role, you will handle the company's most complex inland marine claims, including Builder's Risk, Contractor's Equipment, and Motor Truck Cargo, ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective resolution.

Work Environment

This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated office during standard business hours.

EssentialResponsibilities:

Working with limited oversight and broad authority, you will:

  • Adjudicate highly complex inland marine claims involving significant exposure and technical difficulty, often with major impact on departmental outcomes
  • Conduct in-depth investigation, analysis, and information gathering to resolve complex and undefined claim issues
  • Analyze policy language, endorsements, claim forms, client instructions, and supporting documentation to determine coverage applicability
  • Manage claims in litigation, ensuring appropriate strategy and resolution approach
  • Set, evaluate, and adjust reserves with consideration of policy wording and claim developments
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, including experts, TPAs, and vendors, to support claim resolution
  • Monitor and evaluate TPA performance for US-based programs
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience handling commercial inland marine claims, particularly motor truck cargo, with exposures of $100,000+
  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience, including insurance designations or additional relevant experience)
  • Active New York General Adjuster License, or reciprocal Florida, Texas, or California license required, or obtainable within 3 months of hire
  • Experience working with specialty programs, TPAs, MGAs, or third-party vendors preferred
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, including claims impact on profitability and business performance
  • Proven ability to manage complex, ambiguous claims requiring independent judgment and discretion

Compensation

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

  • Richmond $137,500 - $165,000
  • Chicago Pay Range: $151,000- $181,250
  • Los Angeles Pay Range: $165,000 - $198,000
