Job description

EXPERIENCED MARINE ENGINEERING MANAGER
SAILFISH BOATS IS SEARCHING FOR AN EXPERIENCED MARINE ENGINEERING MANAGER.
This is NOT a remote position.
PLEASE NOTE: EXPERIENCED ENGINEER IN BOAT / MARINE INDUSTRY OR RELATED FIELD HIGHLY PREFERRED.
MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
JOB SUMMARY:
Successfully take new model projects from concept stage to production smoothly and efficiently. Conceptualization of new product design. Provide model change assistance to update product lines and implement optimal trends. Conduct ongoing research in and outside the marine industry to keep abreast of developing trends. Will be managing a team of engineers, ensuring guidelines are given but independent action is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Product Development from concept to production phase-in of new products
  • Providing detail design of fiberglass parts/molds and support to tooling vendors
  • Expert understanding of boat systems (Fuel, water, waste, bilge, HVAC)
  • Troubleshooting design related production problems with Process Engineering and Qualify Control
  • Developing B.O.M.
  • Layout of B.O.M. on drawings and assemblies
  • Interfacing with suppliers to ensure correct product applications and installations
  • Direct involvement in the development and testing of new product and prototypes
  • Continuing development and implementation of upgrades to products once in production
  • Ensuring timely and adequate completion of all applicable phases of project
  • Maintaining direct and frequent interface with other departments to ensure consistency throughout the organization
  • Coordination and maintenance of 3-D CAD models to include interface fit, detail and completion of all assigned new models
  • Development of engineering โ€œdetailedโ€ drawings based on conceptual arrangements
  • Providing technical product assistance to Service Department
ORGANIZATION/INDIVIDUALS WITH WHOM THERE IS REGULAR CONTACT:
  • Vendor Representatives โ€“ as needed to assist with material issues
  • Sub-Contractors โ€“ as needed for tooling and new parts
  • Sales Department โ€“ as needed for research and direction
  • Production Managers/Supervisors โ€“ as needed to support implementation of improved materials and processes
  • Supply Management โ€“ as needed to support procurement of new and updated parts/materials
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • MARINE INDUSTRY ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Management and Supervision experience required
  • Experience in marine engineering background with knowledge of production process
  • Computer aided design and engineering
  • Committed to quality and standards that are accepted by societies and industry
  • Must interface well with other employees and the public and be a team player
  • Working knowledge of PC based software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.)

  • Minimal travel required
