Timken Power Systems (TPS), Philadelphia Gear brand, is seeking a Marine Aftermarket Manager to drive sales and business strategies for both military marine (MILMAR) and commercial marine (COMAR) markets, working collaboratively with local territory sales managers.  The Marine Aftermarket Manager understands both military & commercial markets and drives sustainable sales growth for TPS through forging strong relationships with Navy, Coast Guard, and COMAR end-users, stakeholders, and repair shipyards, in order to meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.  The Marine Aftermarket Manager will maintain and improve service to existing customers and responsiveness to internal stakeholders, including corporate headquarters, as well as developing new accounts, specifically in leading edge new technology markets in the Marine space.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Have an established in-depth knowledge of the military Marine (MILMAR) market, principally consisting of U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ship & vessel sustainment.
  • Possess general knowledge of Marine electrical/mechanical equipment manufacturing and repair, assembly and test procedures along with company product offerings and their related prime market applications and aftermarket potential.
  • Respond to customer inquiries related to marine propulsion equipment, repair parts, and technical support.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with both MILMAR and commercial marine (COMAR) customers.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on product selection and application.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, develop quotes, and write/deliver proposals.
  • Negotiate and close sales contracts with Marine sustainment customers.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of On-Site Technical Services (OTS) field repair teams.
  • Coordinate technical, programmatic, and administrative support and guidance to OTS teams.
  • Manage warranty claims and repairs.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction with field service and repair work.
  • Achieve or exceed sales targets for the Marine Aftermarket area.
  • Sustain and expand the marine aftermarket (MILMAR & COMAR) business.
  • Ensure meeting of all customer requirements in the MILMAR sector, and expand the COMAR sector.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and technologies, and monitor competitor activity.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, marketing, and customer service.
  • Participate in industry events and conferences relevant to the Marine Aftermarket sector.
  • Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer relationships through regular face-to-face customer interactions by planning and scheduling customer visits to timely assess needs, to follow-up, and to convert customer opportunities into profitable sales.
  • Provide direction for all TPS brands related to existing product sales & market share increase.
  • Meet company key performance objectives for sales, profitability, safety, and quality. 
  • Possess or gain comprehensive knowledge of the company's Marine capabilities, services, and products, as well as the COMAR & MILMAR markets as a whole.
  • Manage time and priorities for maximum efficiency & professionalism, using available resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform within a team environment as well as possess the ability to take charge and work independently when required and possess the ability to interact with all levels of customers, vendors and internal TPS network teams.
  • Build customer confidence in the ability of the company to meet their needs by applying good problem-solving skills and persuasive sales techniques to gain customer confidence.
  • Flexibility to meet sometimes-demanding travel requirements and spend significant time making customer visits within the East/Gulf Coast region.  May require overnight travel. Travel at least 40% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, engineering, business or manufacturing from an accredited college or university is preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in sales to industrial or marine end users and shipyards, 5 years preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in management or oversight of marine propulsion system rotating equipment, 10 years preferred. 

  • Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance, repair, operation of onboard propulsion systems, 10 years preferred. 

  • Experience communicating with stakeholders across the user, purchasing, financial, and operational communities. 

  • Strong computer skills, primary focus on MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

  • Strong organization and communication skills. 

  • Candidate will reside in the Tidewater region of Virginia or the Mid-Atlantic region and have prior military service.

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data ("CTD") and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).  Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
