Job Summary
Premier Marine is a leading pontoon boat builder located in Big Lake, Minnesota. We've built a world class team and are looking for self-motivated individuals who understand the value of a strong work ethic, teamwork, and integrity in the workplace.
Premier Marine is seeking an energetic Director of Procurement to join our team. As the Director of Procurement, you will lead and direct all strategic and tactical facets of purchasing, sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and material planning to support Premier Marine's manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies that ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of materials while building strong supplier partnerships and supporting operational excellence.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing operations, finance, and external suppliers to drive purchasing performance, support new product initiatives, improve material availability, and optimize procurement processes and systems. The Director of Purchasing will pay a key role in ensuring supplier alignment with Premier Marine's production goals, growth initiatives, and long-term business objectives.
Management Responsibilities
• Responsible for hiring and performance management of the purchasing team, including coaching and development to expand the capabilities of the team.
• Manage department resource assignments and workflow, performance metrics that drive company goals and objectives, and planning of major initiatives.
• Develop and improve purchasing processes to optimize team performance, improve material availability, reduce cost and manage inventory levels.
• Lead Strategic Sourcing activities to evaluate and develop the supply base and develop key supplier relationships to improve cost, quality, on time delivery
• Lead efforts to improve communication and ensure alignment between purchasing, production, engineering, and business functions.
Essential Job Functions
• Provide leadership and direction to purchasing teams and responsible for sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and material planning functions.
• Direct activities related to strategic sourcing, purchasing, supplier negotiations, and material replenishment to support manufacturing operations.
• Oversee procurement planning and purchasing activities to ensure material needs are aligned with production schedules and SIOP plans.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including supplier agreements focused on cost, quality, delivery, and performance expectations.
• Ensure suppliers have the capacity and capabilities to support business growth and operational requirements
• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and planning teams to proactively manage supplier constraints and material availability risks.
• Lead purchasing cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts while maintaining quality and delivery expectations.
• Support new product development and engineering changes through supplier engagement and sourcing strategies.
• Develop and refine EPICOR (ERP) systems and purchasing processes to optimize procurement efficiency and material availability.
• Monitor purchasing metrics and supplier performance to drive accountability and operational excellence
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
• Minimum of 5 + years of leading supply chain organization in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced certification such as APICS or CPIM preferred.
• Strong business acumen with strong understanding of a SIOP process, Supply planning, Strategic & tactical sourcing, materials management & inventory optimization.
• Superior problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems (EPICOR).
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, and ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, operations, logistics, materials management, or related field required.
