We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Buyer. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and will work in Sparta, TN.

As Buyer of the Sparta team, you will be involved in purchasing quality products for our Marine business. Responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management.

• Purchase quality products and materials.
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
• Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
• Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
• Establish safety stock level per component demands.
• Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Analyze trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
• Review planned orders and generate PO’s.
• Monitor the order cycle with suppliers and ensure that delivery is done in accordance with contract specifications.
• Manage planning exceptions and take actions to resolve.
• Report and recommend actions to utilize excess/obsolete inventory.
• Report to management key performance indicators for product line activity.
• Execute planning policies from management.
• Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.

• Provide strategic insights to drive growth and performance through the creation and maintenance of sourcing, ERP planning / purchasing systems.
• Be aware of, and, immediately react to, major demand swings as it relates to inventory levels and associated lead times of supply.
• Provide insight and recommendations to both the Supply Chain Manager and Operations team on major areas of improvement.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff and stakeholders.
• Build strong collaborative partnership with various internal teams, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, customer service, sales, R&D, etc.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and warehouse as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing (Supply Chain, Business Management, Logistics, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or related field of study) or 2 years of buying experience.
• Extensive knowledge of purchasing within a manufacturing environment
• Able to demonstrate continuous improvement through purchasing processes
• First-rate time management and organizational skills with the ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
• Experience working within ERP environment
• Experience in data analysis and reporting

• Team player comfortable in working up, down and across an organization
• Innovative thinker with both successes and defendable failures in product/technology development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team
