Job description

Twin Disc, a global leader in power transmission technology for marine and industrial applications, is seeking a highly motivated Junior Sourcing Specialist to support our Supply Chain team at our Racine, Wisconsin headquarters and manufacturing facility.

The Junior Sourcing Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely supplier communication, purchase order execution, supplier performance monitoring, and material availability to support manufacturing operations. This role serves as a key link between suppliers and internal stakeholders by driving purchase order acknowledgements, monitoring delivery performance, expediting critical materials, and proactively addressing supply risks.

Essential ResponsibilitiesPurchase Order Management
  • Monitor purchase order acknowledgements and ensure suppliers respond within established timelines.
  • Follow up on open, unacknowledged, or revised purchase orders.
  • Maintain accurate supplier delivery commitments and order status within ERP systems (JDE preferred).
  • Support supplier portal management and electronic communication processes.
  • Ensure procurement data accuracy and assist with order maintenance activities.
Supplier Performance Monitoring
  • Track and analyze supplier performance metrics, including:
    • Purchase Order Acknowledgements
    • On-Time Delivery (OTD)
    • Past Due Orders
    • Open Order Status
    • Supplier Responsiveness
  • Generate and distribute supplier performance reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify trends and potential supply risks and communicate concerns proactively.
  • Escalate supplier performance issues to Sourcing Specialists, Buyers, and Supply Chain leadership as appropriate.
Expediting and Material Shortage Management
  • Proactively expedite critical materials required to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding shipment status, lead times, and recovery plans.
  • Monitor shortages and communicate updates to Planning, Operations, and Production teams.
  • Drive timely resolution of delivery concerns before they impact manufacturing operations.
Supplier Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with assigned suppliers.
  • Coordinate routine communications regarding schedules, forecasts, inventory requirements, and order status.
  • Serve as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments.
  • Document supplier commitments, follow-up actions, and communication records.
Supply Chain Support
  • Assist with supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
  • Support supplier master data maintenance and ERP transactions.
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to projects focused on improving delivery performance, reducing lead times, and strengthening supply chain reliability.
  • Provide supplier performance updates during daily operational meetings.

QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 0-3 years of experience in:
    • Supply Chain
    • Purchasing
    • Planning
    • Customer Service
    • Manufacturing Operations
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Internship or co-op experience in supply chain, operations, or procurement is a plus.
