Job Type: Full Time


Overview: The Port Captain / Marine Surveyor / Field Transport Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing marine operations and transport engineering tasks related to heavy and specialized cargo, including wind turbine components. This role combines elements of port management, field supervision, and engineering support to ensure efficient and safe execution of transport projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage port operations to ensure smooth cargo handling and transport.
  • Act as the field representative to ensure that project plans, including stowage, lashing, and bedding plans, are followed accurately.
  • Supervise and instruct port personnel in cargo handling, positioning, and securing 
  • Ensure all materials, equipment, and labor are organized and set up prior to the commencement of operations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare for and support complex transport operations.
  • Conduct inspections, surveys, and examinations of marine vessels and cargo to verify compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Oversee the loading and offloading processes of heavy and specialized cargo ensuring proper handling and placement.
  • Produce operational drawings, including deck layouts, stow plans, lashing plans, and lift plans for heavy transport projects.
  • Perform light transportation engineering tasks using in-house developed tools and methodologies.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Administration, Work Experience also qualifies


  • Experience: Proven experience in marine operations, port management, or transport engineering. Experience with heavy or specialized cargo is a plus.


  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of marine operations, cargo handling, and port logistics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in using engineering and logistics software is advantageous.


Working Conditions:

  • This role may involve working in various weather conditions and requires 40% travel at times.
