Job Title: Commercial Driver – Advanced Mapping & Sensor Operations
Location: Dallas, TX
Duration: 2-month contract with strong potential for extension
Schedule: Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly reliable and detail-oriented CDL-A Driver to operate sensor-equipped vehicles for a premier autonomous technology developer’s mapping pilot program. Please note: This is not a freight or cargo-hauling role; the truck carries no load . Your primary mission is to ensure assigned route segments are collected with high-quality mapping data, completing every segment correctly and safely.
Day in the Life: Follow the standard operating rhythm for every mission day:
· Morning Routine: Commute from your hotel to the secure parking lot. Perform a pre-trip DVIR in Samsara (inspecting tires, lights, brakes, and sensors).
· Task Management: Pull daily sub-tasks from Jira or Google Sheets. Execute routes using the in-truck coverage display; all "red" segments must be turned "white".
· Mid-Mission Protocol: If a segment is missed due to a wrong exit or diversion, you must return and re-cover it; no gaps can be left at the end of the day. If weather conditions (rain, snow, hail, or dust) arise, you have the authority to suspend collection immediately.
· End of Mission: Complete a post-trip DVIR in Samsara and mark tasks as 'Executed'.
· Overnight Security: Park in a secured lot, back against a wall or fence, and ensure the cab is completely clean with no visible equipment.
Key Responsibilities
· Mission Execution: Follow digital routes using the in-truck coverage display, ensuring all required segments are collected.
· Vehicle Readiness: Perform pre-trip and post-trip DVIRs in Samsara. Maintain sensor integrity by cleaning LiDAR, camera, and radar components using approved, specialized materials only.
· Task Management: Update mission statuses in project management software (Jira/Google Sheets) and coordinate with the operations team via communication platforms.
· Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict DOT regulations, log hours accurately in Samsara, and maintain a standard of zero incidents or at-fault collisions.
· Logistics & Security: Securely park the vehicle in pre-vetted locations, ensure the cab remains clean and free of visible equipment, and manage data drive shipments when away from the home terminal.
Required Qualifications
· License: Valid, active CDL-A license (non-negotiable).
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years of commercial truck driving experience.
· Compliance: Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, a PSP check, and an MVR check that meets rigorous safety standards.
· Tech Proficiency: Daily comfort with digital tools such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and Jira.
· Adaptability: Willingness to travel nationally week-over-week, as routes change frequently and require overnight hotel stays.
· Reliability: Ability to strictly follow safety protocols and mission procedures without deviation.
Program Details
· Work Schedule: Monday–Friday (no operations on weekends).
· Home Base: Palmer, TX.
· Training: Mandatory 3-day training session (June 22–24, 2026) at the home terminal.
· Performance: Success is measured by consistent route coverage, adherence to safety protocols, and reaching mileage targets.
Note: This position is subject to continuous MVR monitoring. Any traffic violations or safety incidents must be reported immediately. Drivers must be prepared to stay in hotels and follow all security protocols regarding the vehicle and high-value sensor equipment.
