The Role
AppFolio is seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer to join our Investment Manager team, where you will help craft a premier CRM and investor portal experience that empowers our customers.

 

In this role, you will be a dedicated member of a lean, cross-functional team, collaborating closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Quality Engineering. You will be responsible for identifying root customer challenges and partnering with your team to define strategic requirements that you will incorporate into your design solutions. Through user research and usability testing, you will validate prototypes and analyze usage data to refine the experience and drive extraordinary outcomes that align with our business objectives. Because product ease of use is a core competitive advantage at AppFolio, you will act as a tireless advocate for the end user, owning the experience in partnership with your UX Manager and design peers.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to ensure a consistent and high-quality user experience across complex CRM workflows and Investor Portal experiences
  • Collaborate with Product Management on roadmap and strategy, working as a tireless advocate for the end user and helping to balance those needs with those of the business
  • Break down complex design challenges by leading activities such as design studios and story mapping for your development team
  • Ongoing, close collaboration with team members during each sprint, including impromptu discussions and brainstorming activities, as well as pairing with engineers on design feasibility
  • Supporting the team as needed with wireframes, flow diagrams, rapid prototypes and mock-ups to efficiently communicate and validate your design ideas
  • Facilitate user research, in collaboration with the team, to validate ideas and prototypes, as well as conduct ongoing usability testing of the working software

 

Qualifications:
  • Curiosity, combined with a sense of urgency and genuine love for products and people
  • Portfolio of projects that demonstrates your design process, skills and creativity
  • Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with AI-native workflows that accelerate the design-to-build lifecycle.
  • Previous experience building CRM features and modern web applications are a plus
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience conducting user research, distilling data to insights, and using insights to inform the product experience
  • Proven ability to execute diverse UX deliverables with a strategic understanding of which tools best articulate customer needs, complex problems, or innovative design solutions
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative and agile product development environment with a true Product Manager partnership and team of dedicated Software Engineers is a huge plus
  • Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools, preferably Figma
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in user experience design


Compensation & Benefits

 

The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $104,000 - $130,000. The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc. Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
