Technical Business Analyst Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Role Overview
A Technical Business Analyst (IAM) acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to design, implement, and optimize identity and access management solutions. This role combines business analysis, IAM domain expertise, and technical understanding to deliver secure and compliant access frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document IAM requirements
Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications
Define use cases for:
User onboarding/offboarding (Joiner-Mover-Leaver)
Access requests and approvals
Role-based access control (RBAC)
Conduct gap analysis for existing IAM processes
2. IAM Solution Design Support
Work with IAM architects to design solutions for:
SSO (Single Sign-On)
MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
Identity Federation (SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
Assist in designing:
Role models and entitlement mapping
Access policies and workflows
Create process flows, data models, and system diagrams
3. Technical Analysis & Integration
Analyze integrations between IAM systems and:
Active Directory / LDAP
HR systems (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors)
Enterprise apps (Salesforce, ServiceNow)
Support API-based integrations and data mapping
Work with development teams on IAM configurations and enhancements
4. Identity Governance & Compliance
Support implementation of Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
Define and document:
Access certification processes
Segregation of Duties (SoD) rules
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements:
SOX, GDPR, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001
Assist in audit preparation and remediation tracking
5. Testing & Validation
Develop test cases, test scenarios, and UAT plans
Perform system, integration, and user acceptance testing
Validate IAM workflows, provisioning, and de-provisioning processes
Ensure alignment with business requirements
