Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.

We are currently hiring Industrial Maintenance Technicians for our busy 24/7 metal melting manufacturing plant.

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and service to all electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal/mechanical systems and equipment used in amorphous metal production.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Committed to working in a safe manner.
  • Maintains clean & safe work areas and follows all safety procedures.
  • Complies with all pollution, toxic waste, and safety regulations and laws.
  • Provides support, preventive maintenance, and service to all electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal/mechanical systems and equipment used in amorphous metal production
  • Repairs and maintains electrical, electronic, and various electrical power systems, including digital and analog circuitry, inverters, alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) drive systems, PLC systems, lasers, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power distribution systems.
  • Repairs and maintains various mechanical systems, including cranes, balers, casting, winding, & packaging machines.
  • Maintains troubleshooting guides and assists with failure analysis.
  • Assist with writing work instructions and procedures.
  • Utilizes CMMS System to schedule work and complete predictive and proactive maintenance.
  • Operates welding, cutting, and burning equipment, as needed.
  • Serves as a member of the emergency response team.

*This position is a rotating 12-hour swing shift (days and nights, and does include overnights, weekends, and holidays) and will change as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to read and work from mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics; utilize drawings & equipment manuals.
  • Troubleshooting skills using Allen-Bradley RS Logics 5,500 and 5000 software
  • Basic understanding of PLC communication networks
  • Ability to perform loop tuning to optimize process performance
  • Troubleshooting skills including computer interface box and board level of individual controllers
  • Requires ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with all levels of employment
  • Ability to take leadership role in assisting operations when experiencing problems.
  • Ability to identify problems, participate in problem solving, and solution implementation.
  • Ability to use respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA),

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in industrial maintenance in the areas of electronics, electrical, mechanical hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC’s and AC Inverters
  • Experience using Allen-Bradley Logics 5,500, and 5000 software
