Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $154,968 - $205,332.6. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. Are you passionate about Production Operations? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Production department. As Senior Manager-Manufacturing Training & Capability Development, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
The Senior Manager-Manufacturing Training & Capability leads the strategy, design and execution of training programs that build capability across manufacturing operations. This role ensures frontlines leaders, technicians, engineers and production teams have the technical skills, safety knowledge, and leadership capability required to meet operational quality and compliance standards. This role is responsible for leading and managing the Manufacturing Training Center operation; partnering closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering and HR to align training and business priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Program Deployment
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive manufacturing training strategy aligned with operational goals. Establish and maintain a multi-year capability, building a roadmap focused on standardized work, technical skills (welding, fabrication, assembly, painting, injection molding, wiring/electrical assembly, machining) and continuous improvement culture.

Design and Lead Standardized Work
  • Oversee the design and execution of technical training (welding, fabrication, assembly, painting, injection molding, wiring/electrical assembly, machining) for new hires based on identified standardized work utilized by production.

Metrics and Feedback Utilization
  • Apply operator performance data, training metrics, and quality feedback to evaluate and improve technical training programs; focus on measurable performance and root cause analysis.

Manufacturing Training Center Operations
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end operations, ensuring it functions as a high-performance learning hub. Oversee daily technical training center activities, including program scheduling, resource planning, equipment need identification and readiness, and trainer assignment to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery. Establish and enforce standards for curriculum development, instructional quality and learning effectiveness. Drive continuous improvement of training center operations by reviewing performance metrics, learner feedback, and quality data to identify gaps and implement enhancements. Ensure the training center remains compliance with all safety, regulatory and company requirements while fostering a culture of technical excellence and learning.

Industry Trends and Innovation
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the company's approach for technical training.

Build and Develop
  • Recruit, develop and coach internal trainers, ensuring they attain the knowledge and have the experience to teach standard work.

Collaboration
  • Partner with production, engineering and quality teams to ensure training aligns with real operational requirements, reflecting S&C's emphasis on communication across teams and shifts.

Quality Improvement
  • Integrate quality lessons learned, standardized work updates and abnormality responses into technical training materials.

Functional Leadership
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to direct reports, and contributors, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Conduct regular performance assessments, provide constructive feedback and facilitate career development opportunities to support individual growth and organizational succession planning.

Thought Leadership
  • Provide though leadership and best-practice direction to the Manufacturing Training team, ensuring the development and execution of training goals that contribute towards the large goals of S&C.

Compliance
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you'll Need To Succeed:
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Organizational Development or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing training or technical development roles.
  • 7+ years of leading teams in a manufacturing environment in a process/manufacturing/or operations/materials management role.
  • Understanding of adult learning concepts with the ability to translate operational requirements into structured learning programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement tools from Lean and Six Sigma Management Systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, safety regulations and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement technical programs.
  • Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, (written, verbal and listening and presentation) able to partner with and communicate with customers, both technical and non-technical.
  • Great organizational, planning and project management skills, coordinating internal and external resources and juggling key account demands.
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed actions, solve complex problems and drive learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including the flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Great computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Power BI. Including great data analysis skills.
