Job description

Onsite Technical Coordinator - Dyersville, IA or Greater Minneapolis, MN

DISHER is currently partnering with a recognized leader in providing North American businesses with engineering solutions, sourcing and supply chain development, and Asian market entry and start-up services. In this role, you will serve as the day-to-day technical link between the customer’s engineering and manufacturing teams and the engineering team in India. You will coordinate by gathering requirements, supporting design and manufacturing activities, managing technical communication, and helping to  resolve issues so engineering deliverables are accurate, practical, and production-ready.

This role may be either on-site in Dyersville, IA or in the greater Minneapolis, MN area.

What you will get to do:
  • Coordinate directly with the customer mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, manufacturing, quality, production, procurement, and project teams.
  • Translate requirements, design changes, production feedback, and open issues into clear assignments for the engineering team in India.
  • Collect measurements, photos, equipment data, specifications, redlines, and shop-floor information needed to complete engineering work.
  • Coordinate design reviews, technical clarifications, drawing updates, bills of material, approvals, and engineering change activities.
  • Review drawings, models, schematics, layouts, and technical documents for completeness, manufacturability, and alignment with customer standards.
  • Support troubleshooting during fabrication, assembly, testing, commissioning, and field-service issue resolution.
  • Maintain project schedules, action lists, issue logs, deliverable trackers, and regular status updates across U.S. and India teams.
  • International travel twice a year.
What will make you successful:

Technical Skill Set

  • Working knowledge of commercial or industrial refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, heat exchangers, pumps, piping, valves, and controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, refrigeration piping diagrams, P&IDs, electrical schematics, panel layouts, equipment layouts, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or SolidWorks Electrical is preferred.
  • Understanding of refrigeration and HVAC fundamentals, heat transfer, fluid flow, system component selection, and basic troubleshooting. Familiarity with CO₂, ammonia, halocarbon, chilled-water, rack, distributed, or chiller systems is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical controls, ladder logic, PLC-based systems, variable-frequency drives, panel wiring, and system testing is preferred.
  • Experience in a custom manufacturing environment, including design-for-manufacturability, quality checks, engineering changes, fabrication/assembly support, and root-cause problem solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, project-tracking tools, and ERP/document-control systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, mechatronics, or a related engineering field; equivalent engineering-technology experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience and at least 2+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in engineering, refrigeration/HVAC, industrial equipment, manufacturing, automation, or technical project coordination.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and electro-mechanical aptitude with the ability to work effectively on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently at the customer site and coordinate meetings across U.S. and India time zones.
  • Experience working with global engineering teams and preferably teams in India.
