About Us:

ES Foundry Corp is a U.S.-based solar manufacturing company helping strengthen America's clean energy supply chain by producing high-quality photovoltaic solar cells at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Greenwood, South Carolina. Our work supports domestic energy production, U.S. manufacturing growth, and the continued expansion of renewable energy solutions for customers across the solar industry.

Joining ES Foundry means becoming part of a growing team with a meaningful mission and long-term career potential. Employees have the opportunity to learn from experienced industry leaders, contribute to advanced manufacturing operations, and help build products that support a more reliable and sustainable energy future. We are committed to fostering a workplace grounded in Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Entrepreneurial Spirit.

About the role:

The Safety Engineer plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that protect employees and ensure regulatory compliance within our solar cell manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for identifying workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments, and leading initiatives to reduce injury rates and promote a culture of safety. The role requires close collaboration with production, engineering, and HR teams to ensure OSHA compliance, manage incident investigations, and support continuous safety improvement. The successful candidate will contribute to a safer work environment, directly reducing incidents and supporting operational continuity. Ultimately, this role ensures ES Foundry maintains a proactive, compliant, and safety-first culture across all manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain plant safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, workplace inspections, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage and maintain OSHA recordkeeping (300, 300A, 301 logs) and ensure timely regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientation, LOTO, confined space, hazard communication, and PPE.
  • Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring, including noise, air quality, and chemical exposure assessments.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams during equipment installation and process changes to ensure safety-by-design principles are applied.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims in coordination with HR and insurance providers.
  • Lead emergency response planning, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and emergency action plans.
  • Chair or support the plant safety committee and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Track and report key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near-misses) to plant leadership.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of safety engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910).

Desired Skills:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) credential preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour or OSHA 500/501 Trainer certification a plus.
  • Experience in semiconductor, solar, or electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 safety management systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance (EPA, hazardous waste management).
  • Proficiency in incident management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with machine guarding, ergonomics assessments, and chemical safety programs.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and training/facilitation skills.
  • Analytical and investigative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to influence behavior and build a strong safety culture.
  • Attention to detail and sound judgment under pressure.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and project management.
  • Integrity and accountability in enforcing safety standards.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments, including exposure to chemicals, machinery, and cleanroom conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs., up to 10% of the work time.
  • Requires frequent walking throughout the production floor to conduct inspections and audits.
  • May require availability for emergency response outside of normal business hours.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE based on area-specific hazards.

Benefits and Perks:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package designed to support employees and their families.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions.
  • Paid time off, including vacation and sick leave.
  • Opportunities to grow with a rapidly expanding U.S.-based solar manufacturing company.
