SUMMARY The position would be responsible for coordination of new product launches, continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing with special emphasis on welding. General responsibilities include manufacturing support for weld audits, issues on the floor, engineering changes or quality issues, set up reduction, cost improvement, tool and fixture design and adherence to commercial and military weld requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Perform engineering tasks and handle designated projects to directly support manufacturing operations. Development and maintenance of manufacturing processes which include: weld, metal finish, light assembly, painting/coating, and various inspection processes to meet internal and customer specificationsPreparation, review, approval and release of written welding procedures in accordance with specifications and welding qualifications.Qualification and documentation of welding procedures.Occasional oversight of welders, and welding operators on critical weld operations.Identification, design, procurement, and implementation of appropriate fixtures, tooling, and/or process needs.Coordinate activities with outside vendors and be willing to travel as necessary to meet with vendors and customers. Confer with other supervisors and managers to coordinate quality improvements and investigate root cause of quality problems and implement corrective action. Continually monitor the employees for safe working conditions and suggest productivity improvements.Participate on cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of productivity, methods, processes, and quality.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEMust have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar technical degree, proven experience in reading AWS and Military weld specifications, proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), minimum of 3 years of experience in using CAD software, preferably ProE/Creo, able to interpret and communicate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, cross functional team resolution of production fit and form issues, bill of material errors, and manufacturing routing changes using root cause analysis tools. Required PPE: When in the production facility; Safety glasses w/ side shields and protective footwear with steel toe are required. Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
