Job description

Plant Engineering Manager – Tacoma, Washington

Arclin USA is currently looking for a Plant Engineering Manager. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position resides in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is responsible for specifications and design of plant facilities, controls and equipment for the Arclin Production Facilities that will achieve the desired result in the most cost-efficient manner while enhancing the environment, safety, quality, and long-term profitability of the facility.

Plant Engineering Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all plant assets; responsible for controlling, tracking and reporting spending of the capital budget and the maintenance
  • Function as a project manager for plant capital projects
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Hire and supervise all resources in the maintenance
  • Analyzes and plans maintenance work force utilization, predictive/preventative maintenance, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements. Prepares engineering analysis of projects that includes preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection
  • Develop, evaluate and improve the manufacturing controls and automation utilizing knowledge of instrumentation, controls & automation, product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities.
  • Leverage automation and controls to institutionalize consistencies in production
  • Conduct, facilitate, and participate in PHA, PSSR, and HAZOP
  • Manage and train plant personnel in the use and execution of RCA/RCFA process.
  • Manage compliance of all PSM and fixed equipment inspections and repair.

Plant Engineering Manager Requirements:

  • B.S. ideally in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years plant maintenance, engineering, project engineering or industrial manufacturing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated record of leadership, teamwork, adaptability, innovation and initiative
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility and the company
  • Proven ability to create and maintain a professional safety culture
  • In depth knowledge of machine safeties, OSHA and LOTO
  • On call – carries a cell phone and responds to after hour emergencies

Preferred:

  • Experience in TPM, 6 Sigma, Lean, 5S
  • Experience working with continuous and batch processes; Paper, Tissue, Non-Woven, Coating, Engineered Wood/Panels, Printing, or Chemical processes a plus. 
  • Experience in PSM program implementation and maintenance

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
