The Operations Manager is directly responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse. This manager will deliver quality performance through developing a culture where employees excel, relentlessly strive for improvement, anticipating issues and creatively solving problems.

General Accountabilities:

  • Accomplishes warehouse operations and human resource objectives by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Achieves warehouse operations operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
  • Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting labor requirements; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
  • Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
  • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Building upon the foundation of our Midwest Values while upholding company policy, nurture a culture that values friendly and open atmosphere for discussion of continuous improvement of customer service, workflow and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of warehouse operations management experience. Preference for an associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications and ability to learn applicable application software
  • Possess strong communication (oral and written), statistical and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain workflow while professionally responding to issues as they arise in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to lead as a hands on manager that engages at the team level and is flexible in schedule in order to adjust and respond to operational needs
  • Ability to travel to other MRS locations, customer locations, and training/networking opportunities
