Shift

5:30p-6a

Every other week:

1 week Monday, Tuesday, Friday, AND Saturday night

2 week Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday night

Position Description

This position requires working in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities including operating extrusion equipment, maintaining quality and safety standards, and troubleshooting processing problems.

Roles Responsibilities

• Set up extruders to run a product in accordance with standard operating conditions with minimal downtime and loss of product.

• Maintain proper records including run logs/sheet, feed blends on line, amount of product in totes, packaging reports, work orders, log books.

• Complete a product turn-around by cleaning the extruder barrel and screws, the feeder, the chopper, the classifier, the reclaimer system, bagging system, product totes to prevent product contamination.

• Troubleshoot processing problems, including surging, black specks, improper pellet size, pellets with tails and contaminated product.

• Troubleshoot equipment failure and repair.

• Read and comply with the company's Environmental and Quality Policies and report deviations to management.

• Assume personal responsibility for safety performance and demonstrate concern for the safety of co-workers.

• Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards.

• Comply with all safety/health related policies and procedures and participate in company-sponsored safety programs.

Skills

• Must have a valid driver's license.

• Requires ability to meet the quality expectations for manufacturing.

• Understanding and applying appropriate control techniques, e.g., control charts.

• Experience with working (nights) 12-hour shifts, overtime.

• Experience with working around 300 - 700-degree Fahrenheit extrusion equipment.

• Ability to work at elevated heights and regularly climb stairs and ladders.

• Experience with regular crouching.

• Familiarity in the operation and uses of various hand tools.

• Review and understanding of the policies and procedures contained in standard operating procedures, hazardous communication, and waste disposal procedures.

Education

• School Diploma or GED or 5 years of manufacturing experience in lieu of diploma or GED.
