Job Summary
The Operations Manager for the Grounds Department will oversee the day-to-day operational performance of a large-scale, high-volume grounds organization. This role ensures that service delivery, resource allocation, workflow execution, and operational standards meet departmental expectations across a diverse and complex portfolio. The ideal candidate brings hands-on operational expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate work across multiple teams and service areas without direct supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass, Landscape Management, Landscape Architecture, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive experience in the green industry with leadership responsibility
• Experience managing large teams and complex operations
• Strong knowledge of horticulture, turf, and irrigation systems
• Financial management experience including budgeting and forecasting
• Experience with CMMS systems and reporting tools
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with CMMS systems and reporting tools
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and manage overall grounds operations across assigned areas
• Develop and execute operational strategies to drive performance and service consistency
• Oversee daily operations and workforce productivity
• Assist in managing and developing budgets, forecasting, and cost control initiatives
• Establish and monitor KPIs related to quality, safety, and service delivery
• Coach and develop management and supervisory staff
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards
• Manage vendor set up, performance, and contracts
• Leverage CMMS and reporting tools for operational decision-making
• Collaborate with clients to ensure alignment and satisfaction
• Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiencies
• Support long-term planning and seasonal readiness
• Other duties as assigned
