JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Supervisor directs the overall module operations ensuring the achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with the company quality standards and customer delivery requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
  • Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment. Complies and enforces all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards while holding employees accountable.

  • Day-to-Day management of employees, including managing, interviewing, hiring and off-boarding, supporting, coaching/guiding, performance management of Master Technicians and Manufacturing Technicians. Build an effective team to meet company goals to for production, quality, on-time delivery and increase employee retention.

  • Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, documentation, Dayforce records, quality records, etc. Conduct employee probationary 90 days reviews, 8-month performance reviews and proper discipline when necessary. Monitor for accuracy and approve Day Force records of employees' attendance, hours worked and vacation requests.

  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, to meet corporate and plant KPI's, and customer specification and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Responsibilities will include knowledge and training of every cell in designated plant and potential support working in the cells. Interpret specifications, drawings, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.

  • Maintain a supportive and productive work atmosphere through professional conduct and effective communication with internal and external customers, including direct reports, vendors, coworkers and other supervisors. Conduct employee Stay Interviews with new employees and check ins with existing employees on a regular basis.

  • Work with plant Manufacturing Manager in meeting or exceeding plant goals and team performance metrics for driving improvement and making well informed decisions for manufacturing activities, resource allocation and strategic planning.

  • Ensure the training of new and current employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company's standards for quality, productivity, safety, and participate in internal and third-party audits ie: IATF, ISO, IS13485. Also ensure adherence to ISO/TS procedures and requirements, participate in ISO/TS planning sessions.

  • Utilization of time management and leadership skills as well as problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean and 6 Sigma programs. Ensure the Daily Direction Setting boards are up to date. Be responsible for adhering to the company's goal of supporting and driving positive results through the continuous improvement efforts. Support and work with ongoing Op/Ex projects.

  • Recommend preventative maintenance procedures and plan the repair of machines and equipment to minimize downtime. Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.

  • Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems, and assist teammates and direct reports in solving work problems.

  • Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.

  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.

  • Conduct employee training on equipment operations or work and safety procedures and assign employee training to new and experienced workers. Up keep and maintain qualification rosters and Employee Training Matrices.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a high school diploma or HSED/GED equivalent and previous experience in a leadership role. An Associate's Degree or an equivalent amount of education is preferred not required. Must possess good computer skills and be able to learn new skills as needed. This position requires one to two years of continuous training to maintain proficiency in the supervisor role.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees to share information, solves problems, and instruct/train lesser skilled employees. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as part drawings, shop orders, work plans, and short correspondence. Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include computer, various precision measuring devices and lifting devices. Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices. Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable ISO/TS and quality system requirements and policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn in all manufacturing areas. Additional PPE may be required as needed.
