E-ONE manufactures custom and commercial fire trucks including pumpers and tankers, aerial ladders and platforms, rescues of all sizes, quick attack units, industrial trucks, and ARFF (aircraft rescue firefighting vehicles).

SCOPE:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, month-end close, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and ERP-driven financial processes. This role provides leadership to the accounting team and delivers operational and financial analysis to support plant and corporate decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee month-end close, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Serve as primary backup for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll processing.
  • Prepare consolidated and corporate financial reports and required month-end schedules.
  • Monitor, analyze, and record intercompany transactions and eliminations.
  • Manage physical inventory counts and reconciliations.
  • Lead cost accounting activities, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts in partnership with Finance FP&A.
  • Provide operational and production efficiency analysis, including KPIs, labor efficiency, other manufacturing variances, and capacity utilization.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Lead an Oracle ERP system implementation and enhancements.
  • Work on special projects for Finance and Accounting.
  • Understand Production processes and activities to enhance supporting role.
  • Initiate continuous improvements tasks to help enhance EBITDA.
  • Analyze financial trends and provide actionable insights to plant and corporate leadership.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and develop accounting staff, when applicable.
  • Establish and maintain strong cross-functional and corporate working relationships.
  • Perform additional duties and corporate requests as assigned.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and Microsoft 365 and BAAN.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership and team development capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility.
  • Experience in manufacturing and cost accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Audit experience a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, or moving about the office/warehouse.
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 10-15 pounds (such as files, laptops, or office supplies).
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Visual ability to read documents, screens, and reports.
  • Clear verbal communication for meetings, phone calls, and presentations.
  • Ability to focus on detailed tasks for sustained periods.
