We are currently hiring a Sr. Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift. The wage is based on experience and starts between $26.00 - $32.00/HR. The hours are 5:00 pm—3:30 am Monday through Thursday, with opportunities for overtime pay.

Job Description

This position handles daily maintenance activities in alignment with maintenance and operational strategies aimed at maximizing company profits through increased efficiency and cost reduction. Actively seeks opportunities for improvement to enhance overall company performance. Performs production support duties that comply with production schedules, quality standards, and project specifications. Areas of expertise include electrical work, hydraulics, welding, and fabrication. It works with other team members to create and maintain a safe, organized working environment/culture that meets/exceeds MAT HD—Rome facility standards and customer expectations.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Efficiently repairs machinery through careful planning and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that the machinery operates more efficiently and reliably after repairs.
  • Proactively assesses all machinery to identify repair needs before any breakdowns occur.
  • Provides experienced guidance during the troubleshooting process for repairs.
  • Continuously evaluates the most significant opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing costs when deciding whether to repair machinery or purchase new equipment.
  • Collaborates with all operations and warehouse areas to prioritize the best action.
  • Regularly assesses repair tools and equipment to maintain excellent working conditions for optimal performance.
  • Proactively performs maintenance procedures to ensure machinery operates efficiently and minimizes the risk of failure.
  • Effectively works and coordinates with all employees, including Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.
  • Works with external vendors and contractors for maintenance, repair, replacement, and testing equipment and systems in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
  • This position involves close collaboration with other maintenance team members, where training and coaching of less experienced personnel are essential.
  • Continuously reviews existing preventative maintenance processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provides expert technical support.
  • Additional duties assigned by Supervisor and/or Team Lead.
Qualifications

Skills & Knowledge

  • Operate forklifts when required and repair and upgrade a wide range of material handling equipment, including forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance and service.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities using hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment as needed or instructed.
  • Must have organizational, computer, and leadership skills, as this position will head up key special projects.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs; use hands to grasp, finger, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk; hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to lift heavy objects to 75 pounds with the assistance of a dolly and another employee.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Specific skills include basic computer skills, good coaching and feedback skills, and excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written). 

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma required, 2 years of college preferred
  • 6+ years of maintenance experience
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical skills, including but not limited to pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, and fabrication for troubleshooting and repair of production machines and vehicles, as well as maintenance of equipment for use in the facility and the facility itself. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication equipment is required.
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check, employment verification, and drug screen.
