Who we are looking for:

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to be based in Louisville, KY. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person’s primary focus will be to plan and oversee the work of the maintenance staff and to ensure safe and efficient operations for the entire facility. The position is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the facility to include the proper working and reliability of all electrical and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have a technical degree and 10 years of maintenance related experience and/or training in the similar field; or equivalent number of years of education and work experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide supervision and leadership to plant maintenance employees
  • Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and coordinate or initiate reordering when necessary
  • Ensure operating/training manuals are up to date and used for training employees
  • Enter maintenance related data into systems as needed/appropriate
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing activities and promote the plant Lean culture
  • Coordinate and/or perform inspection of building and equipment as required by regulatory agencies
  • Oversee maintenance functions with a drive to eliminate repetitive issues by developing personnel and using metrics to help make decisions
  • Minimize breakdowns or disruptions in the production processes by developing a preventative maintenance and inspection list and schedule
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure proper functioning of equipment, and safety and environmental compliance
  • Create Capex Plans for facility and work with Operations and Management on equipment improvements
  • Be a leader in safety, and enforce company policy regarding EH&S and Lean Initiatives
  • Create and adhere to departmental budgets
  • Lead maintenance transformation from a “break / fix” culture to a reliability-based maintenance culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring:

  • Associates or technical degree and 10 years of maintenance related experience and/or training in the field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
  • Experience in tubing/pipe environment or similar heavy manufacturing environment, along with supervisory experience preferred
  • Must have strong Mechanical and Electrical skillsets
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to use CAD as well as Microsoft office suite such as excel, word, power point
  • General PLC programming knowledge
  • Understanding of basic machine shop tools as well as welding and metal fabrication
  • Familiar with electric code requirements
  • Experience with installation of machinery and equipment as well as dis-assembly
  • Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization
  • Effective leadership skills and problem-solving techniques. Great interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate both positive and negative messages
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner

  • Operating knowledge of the following machines and operating software; Milacron, Negri-Bossi and Battenfeld Plastic Extrusion/Injection Molding machines
  • Knowledge of Eputra Management software and JD Edwards MRP

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete any required training.
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore’s Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Update training materials and procedures.
  • Partner with Safety and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries, production issues, and HR issues.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore’s strategy.
  • Create and update reports, training materials and documentation.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $100,640 - $138,380. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs, and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, other incentives.
