Position Summary

Reporting directly to the VP/General Manager, this position has full responsibility for leading the Engineering function, including product design, development, and manufacturing support for Sunrise Technologies and Ripley Lighting products. This role oversees engineering activities across front-end design and back-end production, ensuring alignment with business goals, product quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all engineering activities, including new product development, product design, and manufacturing support.
  • Oversee the design of electronic circuits, including PCB boards, firmware/software programming, and both digital and analog systems.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3 engineers, including Application, Manufacturing, and Development Engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership in embedded systems, PCB troubleshooting, and automated test systems.
  • Drive new product development initiatives from concept through production.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, and cross-functional teams to support customer needs and business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, specifications, and industry requirements.
  • Interpret and apply technical standards to product development and engineering processes.
  • Support manufacturing processes, including troubleshooting, process improvements, and production efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in product testing, validation, and quality assurance.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and systems.
  • Manage relationships with offshore suppliers and support design collaboration when applicable.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability within the engineering team.
  • Ensure strong communication across teams and deliver clear technical presentations when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electronics engineering, including leadership experience.
  • Strong background in electronic circuit design, including PCB design and firmware/software programming.
  • Experience with both digital and analog electronics.
  • Experience in radio control systems is preferred.
  • Proven experience in new product development.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components and specifications.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and high-reliability product design.
  • Experience with ERP systems and quality control standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
Work Environment
