Job description

Mazak Corporation's Western Applications department is searching for an Applications Engineer to join the team. The Applications Engineer assists Sales staff by providing technical information on the use of Mazak machine tools to produce customer parts/products, efficiently and with robust quality. This position works in the Long Beach, WA area and reports to our Western Technology Center located in Gardena, CA.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Provide telephone / e-mail customer support on the operation and use of Mazak Products.
• Provide part processing / Machine recommendations to best produce customer parts as the stated part volumes.
• Calculate time study estimates of machine cycle time.
• Calculate a cost to manufacture customer parts including labor, and tooling/ work holding costs.
• Conceptually design work holding and tooling as needed to support the manufacture of
• customer parts.
• Demonstrate machine operation and machine features at trade shows and open house events.
• Safely rig and install machines in Technology Centers and at trade show events. Provide customer training on safe machine operation and detailed machine functions at the customer facility.
• Perform test cuts to demonstrate machine capability / prove processing concepts.
• Perform full- turn key process development and testing including statistical analysis of part measurement.
• Approximately 15% of travel is required
Education/Certification:
• Associates degree or certification in a related technical field plus two years of experience in a machine tool related field, or three to five years' experience in a related position is required.
• Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred
Skills:
• Strong ability to communicate both written and orally with upper management, vendors, and customers.
• Proven ability to effectively work in a team environment with other engineers.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Mechanical ability to build fixtures, assemble tools and rig and level machines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically strong in Excel
• Experience with Mazatrol, EIA/G-Code Programming, CAD/CAM Programming software, Esprit or Mastercam, Fusion 360 or other
The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $110,000.
