Job Description
This is a Co-op Opportunity for Engineering students to support driving output and quality improvements, supporting production lines, and identifying technical solutions for gaps in capacity and demand. Below you will find some general information about Bosch North America (RBNA), the Bosch-Charleston Automotive plant, and some examples of typical assignments that students will be given:
  • Identification and coordination of problem solving or troubleshooting activities on equipment or process issues
  • Communication through operational and departmental management on project status
  • Development of software tools to improve data transparency
  • Developing plan for production trials, with focus on equipment and process quality and technical documentation
  • Assisting with training and documentation with hourly and salaried associates
  • Troubleshoot production problems and their root causes
  • Update machine drawings to improve equipment robustness or stability
  • Help to develop and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans according to company standards: Work Instructions, Control Plans, PFMEA#s, gage logs, etc.
  • Work with Solid Work to improve design of machining fixtures, gages, robots' grippers, WPC.
  • Help to develop workplace layouts and material flow.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, mechanical, Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Strong interest in special machinery, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems, particularly within the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with engineering principles, concept development, and system-level thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, autoCAD, powerBI)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CNC machines.
  • Experience with machining of aluminum.
  • Experience with fixture design, gage design, carbide & PCD tooling.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to teach and work with workshop personnel.
  • Self-starting, results oriented, flexible, team player.
  • Demonstrate discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards.
