Job Description

What does the job involve?

The Manufacturing Engineer has responsibility for supporting manufacturing and production processes with engineering technology, information, and planning. Plans and executes engineering technology supporting the manufacturing of products and processes within the company. Liaison with Manufacturing and Quality Department personnel related to products and production processes, within or outside the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Plans, develops, maintains, and provides product Routings and Bill of Materials for products via the ERP/MRP system in support of Planning and Manufacturing in accordance with product, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and provides engineering manufacturing drawings, layouts, and 3D solid models utilizing CAD/Modeling software in support of Manufacturing, CNC Programming, and Inspection functions.
  • Works closely with Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality to provide engineering technology support and information for products and manufacturing processes, inside and outside the company.
  • Manages cycle times, product lead times, and process data related to manufacturing Routings in the ERP system. Performs cycle time studies to validate, monitor, and make improvements of the manufacturing process.
  • Provides technology advancements, studies, and ideas to improve the manufacturing process, including lean manufacturing philosophies (i.e. removing waste, reducing costs, and improving throughput).
  • Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, process mapping, flow-charting, and written materials to support the control and standardization of engineering information in the manufacturing process.
  • Provides support and analysis of operational data/metrics to management as needed to drive opportunities for improvement, cost reductions, and profitability. Utilizes analysis tools from databases, spreadsheets, ERP/MRP data, reports, and other analytical tools.
  • Performs and maintains manufacturing engineering changes, (i.e. Engineering Changes (ECN's); and Request For Changes (RFC's)) related to the manufacturing process.
  • Other Specific Duties:
    • Prepare engineering drawings and details (3D solid modeling, 2D-CAD, etc.).
    • Develop manufacturing routers for products and document process operations and improvements.
    • Perform data analysis, data mining, utilizing excel and/or VBA.
    • Interact with cross-functional teams in a lean manufacturing environment (as related to manufacturing and continuous improvement).
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or other related Engineering field.
  • 2-3 years engineering related experience (preferred),
  • 3D solid modeling CAD experience (in school or, working experience (preferred). 

Required Skills:

  • Proficient and experience with 3D-solid modeling CAD (in Solidworks, Autodesk-Inventor/Fusion, or Ansys/SpaceClaim) creating engineering drawings and B/P's.
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes (machining, cnc lathes, mills, & tooling).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and concepts.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Powerpoint), VBA programming a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
Additional Information

Working Pattern: 8:00am - 5:00 pm

Annual Rate: $60,000-90,000/yr.
