Job description

As a Manufacturing Engineer III, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes. This role ensures products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards and qualify management system requirements. Manufacturing Engineer III applies continuous improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of Bio-Rad products. Manages a variety of professional engineering assignments associated with all areas of existing and future manufacturing activities and various phases of specialized engineering projects.  This role provides technical expertise and support of manufacturing processes, sustaining product design, and new product transfers.

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Continuous improvement projects to increase capacity and reduce COGs.
  • Sustaining support to ensure adherence to MPS.
  • Equipment and Fixture development for EH&S and improved capacity.
  • Management of QMS systems, including updates to procedures and Wis.
  • Provide input into process improvements that include change management, procurement, non-conforming product, CAPA, etc.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineer/scientific field, preferably in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or automation.
  • At least 7 years of industry experience, preferably in medical device manufacturing. Past experience in packaging or manual assembly line processes is a plus.
  • Strong documentation skills and awareness, understanding that regulations require a higher standard of documentation and GDP.
  • Problem solving skills that help in investigating product issues, but also being able to assess a situation and come up with a root cause and solution that fixes the actual root problem.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design, fabricate or procure the right materials for fabrication or work with a supplier to fabricate, test, qualify, and release CapEx equipment and fixtures.
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Understanding and substantiated experience of implementing lean manufacturing concepts.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $121,200 - $166,700 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is also eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
