Job description

SUMMARY: The General Manager - Fastener Manufacturing is responsible for strategic commercial growth, multi-site operations, profitability, and comprehensive performance of all fastener-related manufacturing operations. Oversee production, ensure strict adherence to quality and safety standards, and coordinate the functional support to achieve objectives in support of the company’s long-range plan.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee multi-facility Profit & Loss (P&L) performance: develop annual budgets, build and manage sales pipelines across multiple brands, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Apply sound analytics and decision-making practices to evaluate and choose suitable investments of company resources and assets while monitoring and safeguarding the people including working capital, plant, and equipment.
  • Optimize day-to-day manufacturing operations, specifically coordinating capacity, secondary processes, maintenance, and production schedules that meet or exceed customer requirements profitably.
  • Guarantee all fastener and related products meet industry standards and rigorous customer specifications. Oversee compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements including but not limited to ISO 9001.
  • Personally exhibits, recruits and coaches associates consistent with BlackHawk’s Core Behaviors
  • Responsible for promoting culture of safety.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing workforce and drive a culture centered on safety and accountability.
  • Champion and deliver BlackHawk’s brand and distribution promise to our customers, prospects, and supplier partners locally and nationally while concurrently supporting all company-wide business initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with BlackHawk cross-functional teams to support the achievement of local and company goals while collaborating to continually improve processes and practices.
  • Lead lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, minimize production downtime, and enhance overall output.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-site manufacturing operations and deliver profitable growth.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, data-driven problem-solving, and cross-departmental communication skills.
  • Proven experience with manufacturing operations, quality systems, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ISO standards.
  • Strong commercial, sales, or business-development experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and industrial distribution environments
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, coaching, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides direct and indirect leadership to manufacturing, operations, commercial, quality, engineering, supply chain, and administrative leaders across multiple facilities. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, organizational development, and accountability for team results.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Ten (10) plus years of progressive manufacturing experience in a similar position.
  • Five (5) plus years of senior operational leadership experience.
  • Experience leading multi-site manufacturing operations strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience within industrial fastener manufacturing required.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for a full profit-and-loss statement required.
  • Experience with commercial growth, customer development, and capital planning preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently communicates with employees, customers, suppliers, and business partners and must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Regularly stands, walks, sits, reaches, and uses hands to operate computers, tools, and other equipment.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the visual ability necessary to inspect manufacturing operations, products, documents, and computer screens.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • The position may be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, noise, dust, temperature changes, and other conditions commonly associated with manufacturing operations.
  • Regular travel between manufacturing facilities, customer locations, supplier locations, and other BlackHawk sites is required.

PPE REQUIRED:

  • Required personal protective equipment may include safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, head protection, and other equipment based on facility, customer, or operational requirements.
