Volt is immediately hiring Fabrication Associate in Glendale Heights, IL
As a Fabrication Associate, you will:
  • Be comfortable with assembling pipe orders (single sticks or bundles) and keeping supplies organized.
  • Be comfortable with following safety precautions during fabrication, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping.
  • Be comfortable with operating powered industrial equipment in compliance with OSHA and company procedures.
  • Be comfortable with setting up and maintaining fabrication machines.
  • Be comfortable with measuring, recording, and adding random pipe lengths accurately.
  • Be comfortable with cutting pipe using band saws or torches.
  • Be comfortable with threading and beveling pipe with Landis machines.
  • Be comfortable with inspecting and maintaining forklift equipment.

This is a full time, Contract opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 6+ months of recent industrial labor, machine operation, production, or construction experience
  • Read and use tape measures accurately
  • Experience using gauges for quality checks
  • Math skills for calculating product quantities
  • Knowledge of safe work practices in a pipe yard
  • Experience with machinery for cutting and threading pipe (training provided)
  • Good computer skills for automated machinery
  • Sort/shift pipe ranging from ½" to 10"

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • 6+ months of mechanical background experience
  • 6-8 months of recent experience with machinery such as pipe threaders, band saws, roll groove machines, plasma cutters, automatic welders, and pneumatic banders
  • Prior experience in fire sprinkler pipe fabrication (6-8 months)

Pay Rate: $19.00 - $20.50 per hour.
