Job description

Hello Everyone,


We're looking for a Composite/Carbon Fiber Technician for our client, who will be responsible for the fabrication and analysis of composite and carbon fiber components. You will utilize your expertise in composite materials and manufacturing techniques to contribute to the production (PROTOTYPING?) of high-quality composite parts. Your attention to detail, technical skills, and commitment to quality will be crucial in ensuring the integrity and performance of the finished products.


Job Title: Composite/Carbon Fiber Technician

Duration: 12 months

Pay Range: $35-38/hr on W2

Work Location: WHQ, Beaverton,. OR


Responsibilities:

● Perform composite layup, molding, and bonding operations according to established procedures and specifications.

● Prepare molds, tooling, and equipment for the production (PROTOTYPING?) process.

● Cut, trim, and shape composite materials using hand and power tools.

● Apply resins, adhesives, and other composite materials to create composite structures.

● Conduct quality inspections to ensure adherence to specifications, identifying and addressing any defects or non-conformities.

● Operate machinery and equipment such as vacuum pumps, ovens, and curing processes.

● Assist in the development and improvement of manufacturing processes, including the design and fabrication of jigs, fixtures, and molds.

● Collaborate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

● Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including production records, inspection reports, and material usage.

● Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

● Perform cut up analysis on fabricated and tested parts.

Qualifications:

● High school diploma or GED required. A two-year associate degree in Composites Technology is preferred.

● Basic understanding of carbon fiber and fiberglass prepreg laminate layup definition and ability to layup, fabricate and assemble components to completion.

● Understanding of processes such as kitting, vacuum bagging, and compression molding.

● Proven experience working with composite materials, such as carbon fiber or fiberglass prepreg.

● Experience with composite manufacturing processes, including layup techniques, curing, bonding, and finishing.

● Proficiency in using hand and power tools for cutting, trimming, and shaping composite materials.

● Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

● Attention to detail and precision in working with delicate materials and intricate designs.

● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

● Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols in a manufacturing environment.

● Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

● Strong communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
