Job Summary

The Cost Accountant supports financial and operational reporting within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining standard cost systems, analyzing COGS and manufacturing variances, supporting ERP-driven reporting, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The position works cross-functionally with sales, operations, and leadership to ensure accurate costing, margin analysis, and inventory reporting while driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and analyzing standard costs
  • Partner with sales to provide cost data for pricing and quoting decisions
  • Improve costing processes through cross-functional collaboration
  • Prepare and distribute manufacturing reports including gross margin, yield, and aged inventory
  • Maintain monthly gross margin reporting
  • Prepare month-end journal entries (COGS, E&O, PPV, and other manufacturing accounts)
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations related to manufacturing accounts
  • Calculate and record quarterly labor and overhead capitalization
  • Perform monthly obsolescence analysis with Controller/CFO
  • Analyze COGS accounts monthly
  • Support external and internal audits
  • Manage cycle count process and inventory adjustments
  • Support GL accounting including AR posting, collections, and bank reconciliations
  • Maintain and monitor product costing systems
  • Extract and analyze ERP data in Excel for reporting
  • Assist with budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure tracking
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
  • Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing accounting or related capacity
  • Experience recording journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing variances and cost analysis
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • ERP system experience required
  • Cross-cultural communication skills highly desirable
  • English and Mandarin bilingual a plus
