The Role
The Director General Manufacturing 2 - Charleston Operations is responsible for all elements of safety, quality, schedule, cost, and engagement of the production teams responsible for the structural build, outfitting, and delivery of modular submarine and aircraft carrier construction performed at the Charleston Operations site in Goose Creek, SC. This candidate should have demonstrated abilities to lead all aspects of oversight for production planning, staffing, progressing, execution, integration and delivery of large, complex manufacturing / shipbuilding projects. Candidate should have the ability to collaborate across functions and build teams in a fast-paced environment where urgency and responsiveness are critical.
This high-performer will provide leadership through effective communications, coaching, and training / development; and provides problem resolution to optimize workflow(s) and work relationships with shipyard management both across the Charleston site and with key stakeholders at NNS Virginia. The preferred candidate must have the ability to professionally represent HII-NNS with customers, such as NAVSEA, SUPSHIP and GDEB. The initial candidate would also have demonstrated experience and results in continuous improvement and be able to perform cost trade off studies for all significant cost and production enhancements necessary to improve and optimize NNS Charleston site performance. Ability to access all production areas is required, as well as the ability to obtain fall protection, confined space entry, and fire watch qualifications.
Must Have
NNS Apprentice graduate or Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of applicable technical experience OR Master's degree and 8 years relevant experience. A candidate must have a thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations.
Nice to Have
The preferred candidate will have extensive experience leading large scale manufacturing projects.
